Ways to keep God at the centre

In our previous post, we talked about the importance of recentering our worship on God and putting Him first in our lives. At Life Church, we believe that living with God at the centre is key to fulfilling our mission of glorifying God, making disciples, and building relationships. Let’s dive deeper into some practical steps you can take to make God the centre of everything you do—right here in your community.

1. Start Your Day with God: Set the tone for your day

At Life Church, we encourage everyone to make time for God in the morning. By starting your day with prayer or Bible reading, you’re inviting Him into your life from the very beginning.

How to do it:

• Set aside 10-15 minutes to connect with God before diving into your busy schedule. Starting your day this way will help you keep Him at the centre.

Why it matters:
By making this a daily habit, you’ll be consistently realigning your heart and mind with God’s truth.

2. Make Time for Reflection: Evaluate your priorities regularly

We believe in intentional living. Life moves fast, and it's easy to lose focus. Taking the time to regularly reflect on your life and priorities ensures you’re staying grounded in your faith.

How to do it:

• Join a Life Group at Life Church. This provides a regular space to talk through your spiritual journey with others and reflect on how God is moving in your life.

• Each month, set aside time for personal reflection. Ask yourself, Are my priorities aligned with God’s purpose for my life? Am I making time for the things that matter most?

Why it matters:
This will help you identify areas where you need to adjust and recommit your focus to God’s will.

3. Create Space for Worship in Your Life: Worship isn’t just Sunday morning

Worship is at the heart of everything we do at Life Church. Whether we’re gathered on Sundays or living out our faith in our communities, worship is about honouring God in every aspect of life.

4. Serve Others: Worship God by loving others at Life Church

We believe that serving others is a direct reflection of our love for God. Jesus showed us that when we serve others, we’re worshiping God Himself (Matthew 25:40). Our local community is full of opportunities to love and serve those around us.

How to do it:

• Volunteer with Life Church’s outreach programs or join one of our serve teams to help out during services, events, or special projects.

5. Stay Accountable: Join a Life Group for support and growth

Staying accountable in your spiritual journey is key to growing in your faith. Life Groups provide an excellent space for fellowship, prayer, and mutual encouragement, helping you stay focused on God and His plans for your life.

How to do it:

• Sign up for a Life Group—small groups that meet weekly or bi-weekly for Bible study, prayer, and mutual support.

• If you’re unable to attend a Life Group, find a spiritual accountability partner within the church who can help keep you on track.

Why it matters:
Accountability is essential for spiritual growth. With the support of others, you’re more likely to stay faithful to God’s call on your life.

6. Give Your Resources Back to God: trust Him with your finances and time

One of the clearest ways we can recenter our lives on God is by giving Him our resources—time, talents, and finances. At Life Church, we believe in giving generously as an act of worship.

How to do it:

• Reassess how you’re managing your time. Prioritize activities that help you grow in your relationship with God, whether it’s investing in your spiritual growth, church involvement, or serving in the community.

When we offer our resources back to God, we declare that He is the true Lord of our lives. It’s a way to keep Him at the centre of everything.
