About the Program

Sunday Sluggers is a community-focused kids softball program designed to help children learn the fundamentals of softball in a fun and supportive environment.

Kids will be placed into age-based groups to ensure activities are safe, engaging, and age-appropriate.

Program Details

  • Duration: 6 weeks

  • Dates:Sundays – August 9, 16, 23, 30, September 10, 17

  • Location: Pickering (Field TBD)

  • Age Groups :4–12 years old

  • Commitment: Minimum of 4 out of 6 weeks

Sessions will run in two time blocks each Sunday to allow for more active play and better use of the diamond.

  • Volunteer coaches will help:

    • Lead or assist with beginner softball drills and games

    • Encourage and support kids during activities

    • Help create a fun, safe, and positive environment

    • Work as part of a team of coaches and volunteers

    • Reflect kindness and encouragement in all interactions

    Volunteers are also required to attend a mandatory in-person coaches meeting before the program begins.

    • Must be 14 years or older

    • Willing to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check

    • Comfortable working with children in a team environment

    • Committed to at least 4 of the 6 program weeks

    No prior coaching experience is required.

  • As a Life Church volunteer, we ask that you:

    • Model kindness, patience, and encouragement

    • Treat every child with care and respect

    • Help create a safe and welcoming environment for families

    • Represent the values of Life Church on and off the field

  • All volunteers must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check before the program begins.
